Andreas Diehlmann and his band celebrate the blues again and again, always better and more intensively. The new studio album “That Old Blues Again” will be released in the fall.  The title points the way and so Diehlmann and Co. wrest new facets from the good old blues and inspire and move with great songs and an authentic sound.

Cicadas chirp in the heat of the south, a bell alarms frantically in the distance, warning of the approaching train. After a short breeze of the rushing express, heat, silence and the cicadas take over again, until an irresistible lick of a dobro musically takes the heat to the extreme. These first notes show everyone who doesn't yet know the blues man: He can do it! And, the man and his band can rock and have the blues.

After this atmospheric intro, Diehlmann and his band really put the pedal to the metal on “Whiskey And Women”. Pure power blues, just as we know it from George Thorogood or John Campbell, who sadly died far too early. The trio then conjure up the “Gypsy Woman” with an infectious groove. A killer track, unleashing, tricky and with a fascinating mixture of funk and rock that sounds as if Lenny Kravitz and Jimi Hendrix had met.

“Make Up Your Way” and ‘Come Undone’ offer the best Southern rock. The trio rocks through the songs in a relaxed manner, evoking associations not only with the small, long-bearded band from Texas, but also with much more lavishly cast, well-known and popular Southern bands. One reason. The nonchalance and the flair for airy, floating and melodic guitar licks.

“Rock'n'Roll All Night” and ‘Shotgun Wedding Blues’, on the other hand, are powerful, gripping stompers, from A to ZZ simply top!

With “Pictures Of You”, Diehlmann and his comrades-in-arms slow down the tempo a little and show that they are also masters of the classic perfect rock ballad.

The absolute highlight is certainly the title track “That Old Blues Again”, where the blues man shows all his mastery. Yes, it's the good old blues! Just as we have all heard it from time to time, even in perfection. But that's precisely why we can look forward to another work of this quality.

Even if Diehlmann, as a singer with a distinctive grating voice, outstanding guitarist, organist and author of almost all the tracks - only a classic by Billy Boy Arnold as a bonus track on the CD has crept into the repertoire - is automatically the focus of attention, the band is eminently important to Diehlmann. Diehlmann's band, drummer Tom Bonn and bassist Jörg Sebald, have been together for years and have grown into a perfectly attuned blues-rock machine. (Text Uwe Meyer)
